چکیده

This research is focused on increasing the reliability of Fe-11Al-Mn by combining properties Mn and superiority Fe-Al-C under cryogenic temperature. Three alloys with compositions 15 wt % (F15), 20 (F20), 25 (F25) were investigated. The process uses liquid nitrogen in a temperature range 0–196 °C. Hardness testing using Vickers method SEM was used to analyze microstructure. X-ray diffraction (XRD) conducted ensure alloy phase corrosion carried out three-electrode cell polarization method. With addition Mn, hardness decreased from 331.50 VHN at 297.91 %. value tensile strength fracture elongation values 742.21 MPa, 35.3 EI; 789.03 41.2 894.42 50.2 EI, for F15, F20, F25, respectively. An important factor improving performance materials impact mechanism. resulting toughness increased 2.85 J/mm2 3.30 F.15 element increases resistance alloy. lowest rate occurs 0.016 mm/year. Based results, F25 has highest mechanical three types equivalent SS 304 stainless steel. microstructure similar between before after treatment, this condition showed that did not change during process. DEVELOPMENT OF HARDNESS IN A Fe- BASED NANO-COMPOSITE ALLOY

Achieving extreme hardness in the newly synthetic steel formed by converting from initial amorphous state to subse-quent crystalline structure –named as devitrification process- was studied in this research work. Results of TEM observa-tions and XRD tests showed that crystallized microstructure were made up four different nano-scale phases i.e., α-Fe, Fe 36 Cr12 Mo10 , Fe 3 C and Fe3 B. More, V...

Exceptional damage-tolerance of a medium-entropy alloy CrCoNi at cryogenic temperatures

High-entropy alloys are an intriguing new class of metallic materials that derive their properties from being multi-element systems that can crystallize as a single phase, despite containing high concentrations of five or more elements with different crystal structures. Here we examine an equiatomic medium-entropy alloy containing only three elements, CrCoNi, as a single-phase face-centred cubi...

The Ballistic Behavior of High Strength, Low Alloy-100 Steel at Sub-zero Temperatures

The ballistic response of the high strength, low alloy (HSLA-100) steel at ambient and temperatures of -400°C, -800°C and -1960°C is investigated in this work. Lambert-jonas equation is used to fit the experimental results into a curve. The effect of quenching on ballistic behavior of HSLA-100 is also studied. The experiments are conducted on 3mm thick rectangular specimens impacted by blunt ti...

Evaporative cooling of antiprotons to cryogenic temperatures.

We report the application of evaporative cooling to clouds of trapped antiprotons, resulting in plasmas with measured temperature as low as 9 K. We have modeled the evaporation process for charged particles using appropriate rate equations. Good agreement between experiment and theory is observed, permitting prediction of cooling efficiency in future experiments. The technique opens up new poss...
